Subject: 8 year old boy with brain injury
My son, Matthew, was a healthy, extremely bright child until one week past his 5th birthday. On April 24, 2006 we took Matthew for his routine immunization shots (DTAP & Polio). A week after the shots, Matthew had a seizure at home and spent the next 3 months in the hospital, was put into an induced coma to control the seizures and put on high doses of anti-seizure drugs. After placement of a tracheostomy and feeding tube, Matthew spent the next 13 months in a Rehab. On June 4, 2007,we brought Matthew home in a wheelchair, unable to speak, eat by mouth, extremely cognitively impaired and brain injured. His final diagnosis was Encephalitis due to a viral infection. Matthew never tested positive for anything. Matthew is now walking on his own, but is still cognitively impaired and does not follow any verbal commands. His brain MRI shows cerebral volume loss. I was told of your clinic. Do you believe you can help my son? Sincerely, Rosemary DiLascio

Thank you for your timely response. I have one full year of hospital records for Matthew. Shall I send the first 3 months and all his MRI scans? Please advise.
